If you need to copy the contacts from your old Android phone to your new Huawei smartphone, we're here to help. By using the Google account you have set up on your phone, it's possible to transfer contacts using vCard or CSV files which then pushes them directly to your handset. Read on to find out more!

Import contacts from an Android phone

The Google account is the easiest way transfer contacts from your old Android phone to your new Huawei. Because Google synchronises over-the-air, adding the same Google account to your new handset will bring them across. If you haven't set up Google contact sync on your old phone, the following steps will help you do this, although your handset's options may differ from the one we've used to prepare this guide.

To start moving your contacts into the Google account, open your contacts app from the home screen or Apps menu.

  1. With your contact list open, tap the Menu or More button/icon.
  2. Depending on your handset, you may need to tap Settings.
  3. Tap the option to Move or copy device contacts to Google. Depending on your handset, you may need to go into the Import/Export menu to do this.
  4. If prompted, confirm the Google account you wish to copy your contacts to.

If your handset does not give you the option to move your contacts from the handset to the Google account directly, you may need to use your memory card (or SIM) to help you achieve this.
