Is your Safari crashing on your iPhone, iPad or Mac? Well, just about everyone across the globe is currently suffering the same issue – luckily, we've got the fix for you!

Thankfully, the fix is pretty easy – but the process is slightly different depending on the device you've got. Read on to see what steps you need to take.

iPhone and iPad

If you have an iPhone or iPad and are experiencing Safari crashes, or it's not letting you type, then you need to turn off Safari suggestion in your device settings by following these steps:

  1. Open up the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Safari.
  3. Turn off both Search Engine Suggestions and Safari Suggestions. If you have an older version of iOS, you might have Spotlight Suggestions in here too – so as a precaution, just disable anything with 'suggestions' in it.

And that's it. Go back to your homescreen and try Safari again and all should be back to normal!

Apple has not given any official statement on this situation yet – so for the time being, it's best to leave these options disabled until Apple issues an update.

Macbooks, iMacs and Mac Pros

If you have a Mac that's suffering the Safari issue, then – like the iPhones and iPads – we have to disable Safari’s suggestions. Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Open up Safari first.
  2. In the top-left corner of your screen, on your Mac menu bar, you'll see the Apple logo, and just to right of this will be the word Safari. Click this, then click on Preferences. Note: If you use Safari in full-screen mode, you'll need to move your mouse cursor to the very top edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
  3. Once in Preferences, click on the Search tab at the top.
  4. In here, remove the tick from the checkboxes for Include search engine suggestions and Include Safari Suggestions.

And that should be it all sorted on the Mac: give Safari a try, and you should be back in business!

As with the iPhones and iPads, Apple haven’t released any details of the issue yet – so again, I'dadvise leaving these disabled for the time being until Apple give any further information or release an update.
