Are you locked out of your Huawei Y330? Is there something wrong with the software and you need to reset it? Or do you want to sell you phone, and need to ensure your personal data is wiped clean? Whatever the reason, just follow this guide – and your device will be factory-fresh in no time!

There's a variety of reasons why you might want to factory-reset your Huawei Y330 smartphone, and in this guide, I'll show you exactly how – along with the best techniques to use for different situations.

Performing a factory reset – sometimes known as a 'hard reset' – will remove all of the personal user data from your device, including photos, contacts and text messages. If you want to keep any of this information, you'll need to make sure you back it up first – so first, let's find out how to do so.

Back up your Y330

There are multiple ways to make a backup – either via one of many 'cloud' services or via your computer.

If you want to make a cloud backup, you can easily use the Google account associated with your phone. If, as is likely, you've already added a Google then your phone is likely already backing up.

If you want to back up your Y330 to a Windows PC, you'll need to get the Huwaei HiSuite software downloaded and installed. You can download the HiSuite software for Windows PCs here, and you can check out our comprehensive smartphone backup article here for a bit more info on backing up your Y330.

If you don't have any access to your phone – if it's been lost or stolen, for example – then you can still wipe it remotely via Google's Android Device Manager service. This uses the Google account associated with your phone to try and track the device – and can also send a factory-reset command.

Your phone must be able to communicate with Google's servers for the wipe to go through – so if your phone has no internet connection, this method will not work straight away.

  1. Go to the Android Device Manager website.
  2. Log in to your Google account.
  3. Once you see your phone, press the Erase button.
  4. Confirm you want to erase all your data by pressing Erase once more.

Once your phone has an internet connection, it will be wiped immediately.

Method 4: Reboot your Y330 if it's frozen

Rebooting your phone – often referred to as a 'soft reset' should be the first thing you try if your device is frozen or has stopped responding – or if you simply can't get it to turn on!

A soft reset does not wipe any data off your phone, it simply restarts it.

  1. Remove the back cover from your Huawei Y330.
  2. Remove the battery from the phone.
  3. Leave the battery out for about ten seconds.
  4. Place the battery back into the phone.
  5. Replace the phone's back cover.
  6. Try turning it on via the Power button.

If you don't get any response at all, plug the phone into a charger and leave it for at least an hour – then try the soft reset again. If you still don't get any response, then you'll need to take your phone in for repair.
