best android games - adventurerAdventurer League 2D Retro RPG

AXFN
Free

If you like classic turn-based adventuring and retro visual effects, you'll love Adventurer League – a challenging game in which you must explore a dangerous land with your crew of assorted adventurers.

There are quite a few different character classes available, which can help in a variety of ways. Picking the dashing young criminal can help you talk your way out of a mugging, hiring a monk can likewise help you finish certain quests. Picking a tracker can even help you run away from a bear attack, which can make the difference between life and death!

I like Adventurer League because of its simplicity. After a couple of minutes of playing, you'll understand how 95% of the game works – and after about 20 minutes of exploring, you'll get a feel for how large the map is and how much travelling you'll need to do to earn the best rewards.

Adventurer League is a perfect pick-up-and-play game: you can put it down at a moment's notice and still be exactly where you left it when you come back to it. If you like RPG adventure games, and prefer turn-based action to button-bashing, this is a great game for you to download.

Creepy

best android games - creepy

Creepy is a monochrome platform game in which the undead have become wild and uncontrollable – and you take on the role of a repurposed undead, tasked with destroying your brethren as you shuffle through each level. Armed only with a gun and a shield, you'll have to navigate through dark and brooding levels, discovering hidden rooms and destroying evil machines along the way.

Creepy is a very simple platformer, and as an undead creature your movements are quite limited. Jumping is pretty much out of the question, so you'll need to use your wits to avoid getting hurt. Jumping on a moving platform can keep you out of reach from some enemies, but may move you direcly in the line of fire of something more fierce!

You'll need a lot of patience to make it through this challenging game, but the visual appearance and fun levels make it a game definitely worth playing. It's difficult to find a platform game for smartphones that doesn't leave you frustrated afterwards – but if you prefer your frustration to be down to difficulty rather than awkward controls, Creepy is the game for you.

GOLFINITY

best android games - golfinity

It's hard not to enjoy a good mini-golf game – and Golfinity is definitely a golf game worth playing! The controls are simple and the levels can be challenging, but with no lives to lose when you fail, there's also no real stress behind the gameplay. The theme of Golfinity is very minimal, and there's no 'menu' to speak of. Simply open the game and you'll instantly be in a level ready to putt your way to victory!

I like Golfinity because it's a great way to spend some free time: you can pick it up and put it down easily without losing progress or waiting for a round to finish. There is supposedly an infinite number of levels to play through, and it's one of the most casual and relaxed golf games I've played on Android.

If you enjoy 'casual' games that still require some effort and skill, I certainly recommend Golfinity. It's been a mainstay on my Android phone for a few weeks now – and if there's really no end to the amount of levels, then I can't imagine I'll be uninstalling it any time soon!

Star Wars: Uprising

best android games - starwars

Star Wars has always had a reputation for great video games, like Knights of the Old Republic, Galaxies and the Jedi Knight series. Now. after waiting for what feels like forever, we finally get to see Star Wars games on Android devices – and I've been looking forward to sinking some serious time into Star Wars: Uprising.

After picking from one of the four available classes and loading the game's first level, I was pleasedinterested to see an Imperial captain almost straight away. Instead of just focusing on the more popular character types from the Star Wars universe, we're treated to some of the rarer character types to play as and against!

Your choice of character plays an important role in the Star Wars: Uprising gameplay – especially when the game opens up to allow co-op gaming with your friends. Taking part in sector battles to control certain areas of the galaxy actually helps sculpt the game into something new, and each new expansion is based on the changes which occur during these sector battles, and the state the galaxy is left in afterwards.

If you're looking for a fun way to immerse yourself in the Star Wars universe, I heartily recommend giving Star Wars: Uprising a try. Join up with a faction and unlock the power of the Force!
