If you’ve finished all your Christmas shopping and find yourself with some spare time over the holidays, why not check out some of the free games available online? The internet is packed with websites full of free games but here are a few of our favourites.
Newgrounds
Newgrounds is packed with user-generated content, from art and music to movies and games. New games are added all the time and, if you're a budding developer, you can even submit your own games.
My Favourite Game – Cyber Rush
Run through a collapsing tunnel jumping and sliding under obstacles, unlocking achievements along the way. Fiendishly difficult, but fun to try and beat your previous score!
Candystand
A huge range of games in various different categories, Candystand also offers the chance to win all sorts of prizes by getting high scores and collecting tokens.
My Favourite Game – Vector TD
Put up towers to defend your base from the enemies that walk a set path across the screen. Once you’ve mastered Vector TD, there are a couple of sequels to get to grips with too.
Friv
Unlike most other websites like this, friv.com is free from adverts and pop ups. All the games are represented by a grid of 264 little icons , so you never really know what you are going to get until you start playing. The games are updated regularly so keep checking back for new ones.
My Favourite Game – Cover Orange
Use a set number of barrels and planks to build a cover over your orange and protect it from the spiky rain falling from the sky. Sounds ridiculous but it is very fun!
